Sectional 1: Solar Photovoltaic and Fire Training Part I
8:30AM-11AM Instruction: 2 hrs 30 min.
[Instructor: Matt Paiss, San Jose Fire Department]
This section will be in the classroom. It will focus on the safety of working around an active solar PV system. Matt Paiss, Fire Training Captain at the City of San Jose and national expert on solar photovoltaic technology, will discuss microinverter technology as well as central inverter technology.

Section 2 Code Compliance Panel – Interpreting Codes
11:30AM-12:30PM Instruction: 1 hr.

Solar Sonoma County has surveyed both building and fire officials and local solar contractors to identify the most common code misinterpretations pertaining to solar photovoltaic installations. There will be a panel discussion consisting of a Building Official, Fire Official, Solar Contractor, and Manufacturer to help develop consensus on code interpretations amongst the industry players.
